Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon will push original content spending in the streaming wars
08-02-2023 According to the London-based research firm Ampere Analysis, Disney+ is anticipated to raise its annual investment into original content by 82.8% between 2022 and 2027, the greatest rate of any major media and entertainment group. The Walt Disney Company’s subscription-based, on-demand streaming service anticipates spending $7.7 billion on original programming by the year 2027. In the same time frame, Amazon Prime Video came in second with an anticipated increase in original content spending of nearly 70%, totaling $6.46 billion. Other streaming services Peacock (+68% to $3.13 billion), Netflix (+43% to $9.7 billion), and Paramount+ (+33% to $2.28 billion) were next.
