Microsoft’s latest results focus on combating inflation

With prices set to rise, CEO Satya Nadella used the Q1 2022 earnings call to discuss the deflationary effect of digitisation. Increasing cloud use has led to Microsoft reporting first-quarter revenue of $43 billion, a 22% rise over the same period last year. It reported $15.0 billion in revenue, a 22% increase, for its Productivity and Business Processes unit. The company reported that revenue from Office Commercial products and cloud services had increased by 18%, that of Dynamics products and cloud services had increased by 31%, and that of its Intelligent Cloud division had expanded by 31% from the same quarter previous year to $17.0 billion.
