Online Prices Fall 2.6% In June—The Biggest Drop In Three Years

Led by steep price drops on electronics and flowers, the price of shopping online in June saw its sharpest decline in 36 months in the U.S.

Eleven of the 18 categories Adobe tracks fell in prices with the most dramatic decreases seen in the prices of:

  • flowers and related gifts (29.6% year-over-year and 6.1% month-over-month)
  • computers (16.9% year-over-year and 2.5% month-over-month)
  • electronics (12.9% year-over-year and 2.3% month-over-month)
  • Contrastingly the online price of groceries, continued to rise (7.6% annually and 0.1% on a monthly basis)
  • June was the tenth consecutive month in which prices fell year-over-year.

The rising costs of goods have dominated conversations on the U.S. economy for the past few years. However, annual inflation peaked in June 2022 at 9.1% and has been falling ever since, according to the Consumer Price Index.
